There’s not many hills I’m willing to die on, but this might be one of them. Also, I am not giving ANY medical advice! I’m going to tell you what I use, and why. Then YOU as the consumer/customer need to do your research and do your due diligence. I always read labels. For everything single thing I put in my body and on. And ask questions! I’m an open book! You ask, I tell.
So what is blue tansy essential oil?
If you’re in the natural skincare world, you might have noticed that over the past decade (at least) that blue tansy EO has skyrocketed into products.
Before I started making my own skincare I never really thought why some of my organic products were blue and why they smelled divine! Subtle floral notes and a dash of sweetness.
Blue tansy EO comes from a beautiful yellow flower (the one pictured), Tanacetum annuum.
Yes!! A YELLOW flower!
It’s native to the Mediterranean, but now, it’s mainly cultivated in Morocco, with a nickname of Moroccan blue chamomile. Is it related to chamomile? No. But it’s grouped with chamomile because of its similar properties.
So why is the EO blue? The essential oil contains chamazulene, which turns blue as a result of heat! Pretty cool.
These golden buttons produce this beautiful blue EO, just like chamomile.
What are the benefits??
Good question!
A quick search on google will tell you that it has calming effects for the skin as well as aromatically.
It can be soothing, help with redness or irritation, may be good for sensitive skin, and may help with stubborn blemishes. Blue tansy may also have antimicrobial and anti inflammatory properties.
It’s used wildly in skincare and aromatherapy.
Since I’ve started using it I’ve noticed a big change in my own skin. More evenness all around. Less pimples. Even with my crazy postpartum hormones. I use it on my whole body. Of course you should patch test before using!
Now, this is just one of the ingredients I use in my tansy tallow whip. Every ingredient has a purpose. I myself have sensitive skin, it’s one of the reasons I started making my own products!
You can catch this in my tansy tallow whip!
Have a beautiful weekend my friends
